Central Highlands

The Central Highlands and Knuckles Conservation Forest covers an area of over 12,000 square kilometers. In 2010 UNESCO declared the Central Highlands as a World Heritage Site which consists of Peak Wilderness Area (Sri Pada Mountain also known as Adam’s Peak), Horton Plains National Park and Knuckles Conservation Forest.

The Knuckles Conservation Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that spans an area of 234 square kilometers. The region is known for its biodiversity, natural beauty, and rugged terrain. The area is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including several endangered species. Visitors can explore the forest through guided hikes, bird watching, and camping.
